Followers Urge Custody of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal supporters of the pop star are calling for that a individual who jumped a barrier and touched the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating clip depicts the individual from Australia pushing past media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the performers proceeded down a promenade accompanied by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "released after being taken in", though court documents revealed that he was set to appear on the following morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
History of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a performance. His Instagram feed includes recordings of him disturbing other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney performance in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last winter.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," commented an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Show Disapproval Over Grande's Past Trauma
Many followers criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote one more response on Instagram.
Several supporters also faulted event staff at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while some called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was touched by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Hundreds of supporters had congregated in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore venue, including some who had waited for as long as eight hours before it began.
The movie, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a dual adaptation of the well-known stage musical Wicked, which revolves around the surprising bond between two very different sorceresses.
The musical itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a rosé sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and received a dozen award recognitions, securing a pair for best costume and production design.
