Cameron Norrie secured the biggest success of his professional journey by rebounding from a lost first set to defeat top-ranked player Carlos Alcaraz with a stunning comeback in the early stage of the Paris Masters.

While he had previously defeated Alcaraz on two separate matches, this win signifies Norrie's initial victory over a sitting world top-ranked player.

"Enormous. Extremely important for me," stated Norrie, who becomes the fifth English competitor in the record books to defeat a global number one. "Bouncing back from injury last year, I was defeated in the opening stage of qualifiers here. I just aimed to enjoy my game in the second half of the year. To get a win like this, it's the biggest success of my professional life, my maiden triumph over the top player and probably the most confident athlete in the world right now."

The British player, positioned 31st in the world, also halted Alcaraz's dominant streak of nine consecutive finals and 17 consecutive premier event wins, which was the best series of performances in the Spanish star's young career.

Alcaraz appeared to be progressing easily to a win in the beginning as he sailed in the opening set. Yet, the British contender gradually fought his way back into the game by serving with greater precision and engaging the Spanish opponent into lengthy, demanding exchanges.
