The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with employing the entire amount of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine's war effort, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the leaders of the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this joint measure would escalate tension on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and compel the Russian Federation to come to the table.

They further noted that the initiative would be implemented in strong partnership with the America.

United Kingdom restrictions have blocked over £25bn of Russia's funds since the Russian government launched its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. However, up to this point, resources allocated to Ukraine using Russia's holdings had solely been taken from profits and interest accrued on them.

Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and Germany were aligned in their desire to drive progress toward employing the total worth of the frozen Russian sovereign assets to conclude the conflict.

He added that additional restrictions over the next period would heighten the tension on Russia.

This declaration comes after European leaders gathered in Copenhagen recently to debate using seized Russia's assets for a €140 billion loan to Ukraine.

In the previous month, American leader Donald Trump encouraged international partners to seize or employ seized Russian assets, according to reports.

The worth of seized Russian holdings in the Europe is calculated to be approximately €211bn.

Leader Zelensky encourages Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to join the PURL programme

Moscow launched extensive aerial attacks across Ukraine on Friday, causing blackouts in many areas of Ukraine's capital, the city, and multiple additional areas.

A pair of individuals were killed and at least 20 people were injured in the assault, the Ukrainian government said.

In a post on an online platform following the incident, Zelensky wrote that the strategic strike focused on civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What is required is not mere statements but decisive action - from the United States, Europe, and the G7 - in supplying defense mechanisms and applying penalties," he emphasized.

"Each restrictive measure weakens Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky declared, in a different message.

Additionally that day, Zelensky stated to media outlets he would urge Sir Keir to participate in the PURL programme, under which Nato countries purchase arms from the America to give to Ukraine.

While praising the UK's strong support for Kyiv, he said it should indicate firmly that it would take part in the initiative, as well as apply further sanctions on Russia.
