Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
